BIG CHANGES coming for Crank & Boom
How we're making some major shifts for 2024
As an entrepreneur, you are always shifting, evolving, changing, adjusting what feels like everything all the time. COVID brought on a whole new level of decision fatigue that I feel like is finally easing up a bit.
I wish that 2020 was the only year of being in survival mode as a business, but the years that have followed have brought its own set of challenges from staffing, to rising costs, changes in purchasing trends to shifts in social media that happen faster than I can keep up with.
As I have been able to take more time to work ON the business this fall than just trying to keep things afloat, I’ve been able to see some ways I’d like to shift how we do things to better serve our community, our team and our family. It’s also exciting to try new things! So here are some things that will be changing for 2024!
SMALL BATCH CLUB:
The biggest change that will be coming in the new year is what way we release our special flavors. Since March of 2020, the Small Batch Club program brought a brand new flavor release each Friday. That’s 52 special flavors a year. In the ice cream world that release schedule is insanity. But for COVID times, it felt like the right thing to do. We would give our community something fun to look forward to each week. But as we are now back to more “normal” times, I’ve seen that the grind of a weekly release isn’t needed anymore.
Since March of 2020, the Small Batch Club has raised over $100,000 that we have donated back into local non-profit in our community. A HUGE milestone for a crazy idea we had at the onset of the pandemic. So it feels like the perfect time to put a bow on the program as it has existed in the last nearly 4 years.
SMALL BATCH CLUB will now be moving to a MONTHLY RELEASE of special flavors. Each month, we’ll have FIVE SPECIAL FLAVORS that we will have available in scoops and pints for the entire month.
Mostly importantly, we’ll continue to give proceeds from these special flavor pints back to our community . We will continue to have local beneficiaries each quarter and find ways to partner with folks doing amazing work for those who need it most.

As a subscriber, I’m happy to share with you our special flavors that we’ll be releasing on Monday January 1, 2024
Butterfinger Blast (a nod to the special pint pack that will be released in January)
Coconut (the original Crank & Boom flavor that started it all!)
White Chocolate Peppermint (keeping this around b/c it’s awesome!)
Cannoli Crunch (our most popular Small Batch Subscription flavor)
Non-Dairy Salted Caramel (this will be dairy free and gluten free)
OTHER MONTHLY SPECIALS:
We’ll also be putting together special PINT PACKS that will be released around our most special occasions. Think Derby Day and Star Wars Day!
AND, we’ll have 2-3 specials that will be released each month. These will be sundaes, floats, boozy ice cream cocktails, affogatos, and some new items that we’re not quite ready to tell you about yet!
CATERING:
Our business was built on serving at mobile events. Weddings, corporate events, festivals, farmers markets, art shows, and more. In 2020, we paused this service and have been waiting for the right time to bring it back. Well NOW IS THE TIME! We have had so many request for our catering service that it was time to make it happen for you all! I’m so excited to hit the ground running this spring and bring our mobile catering service back to the community. You can get a quote for our catering services HERE.
WHOLESALE:
Our business was also built on wholesale partners that gave us an avenue to showcase our product when we didn’t have our own brick and mortar locations. This was scaled back in a big way during COVID but we are primed and ready to bring this program back as well. We’ll be putting out an application for wholesale partners in the next few weeks to get ready for the busy summer season.
