Hi Friends!
Raise your hand if you are the magic maker of your household?
I’ve tasked myself with what seems an impossible task this time of year. How do I find peace when there is so much to do? This is my conundrum as an entrepreneur but has since been escalated to another level since having small kiddos.
I find a lot of conflict in my heart. I LOVE HARD. I LOVE BIG. And I want so much to show that at this time of year. But I also want calm. I want peace. I want to enjoy the holidays without the madness of the holidays. You know what I mean?
Here are some things I’m doing this year to find more peace this year:
No Fancy Family Photo Shoot
No New Matching Jammies - we all still fit in last year’s jammies.
Using Spreadsheets to track gifts and spending. Gifts are super simple this year.
Let go of the work tasks that just don’t get done
Reframe the tasks from a burden to a gift - How different this year looks from last year!
Stop the self-inflicting pressure I put on myself
Keeping lots of white space and margin on my calendar. This is hard for me.
Do the fun festive holiday things we want without feeling like we have to do ALL the things. We don’t do Elf on the Shelf, Santa photos, Train rides or a massive baking day. You do what works best for your family!
What has brought me the most peace, of course, is having a mostly healthy family. Our little one has had some health struggles over the last couple years and I think we finally have gotten to a good place in that department. We hope! And then there’s my Dad. He’s doing great and still cancer free according to his last scans. That brings the biggest peace of all.
When you are in the thick of it… in survival mode and just trying to make it day to day.. it’s very hard to find calm and peace. Your body is in a heightened state all the time. You physical body and mental state will begin to suffer. And then it percolates into the rest of your life. Your family, your friends, your work. It all suffers.
We have some big changes coming in 2024 for Crank & Boom. Some changes I’m nervous about and some that I’m so very excited about! Change is necessary if we want to continue to evolve and it’s not always easy. But I’m heading into the new year feeling NOT FRAZZLED, and that’s the biggest change of all. I’m so very grateful for that.
HOW ARE YOU FEELING GOING INTO THE NEW YEAR??
peace!
